Subject: Poet Lost in Time
Subject: Poet Lost in Time
The title poem of this excellent volume of poetry is a type of Rip Van Winkle story. A young man steps outside during his wedding feast, meets an old fairy woman, and disappears. He never returns to his new bride and the hall full of his friends, but when he leaves the strange guest at the gate and returns to the party, he finds he has been gone for decades, and all those he knew are now dead. This chilling tale is just one of many very fine and meaning full poems to be found in this, one of the best volumes of poetry by the very under-rated poet, Edith M. Thomas.
